With the year coming to an end, this is the traditional moment to look back and ahead. 2021 was again ruled by COVID. For this reason we had to take the difficult decision to cancel our Congress for the second time. I very much appreciate the opportunity of these meetings for maintaining and building new friendships with renderers throughout the world. Fortunately I had the opportunity to see some of you at the successful event we organized in October in Brussels. And we can now look forward to going to Vilamoura in 2022.
We should remember that this year we had something to celebrate: finally restrictions on the use of PAP’s which we had fought for more than 20 years were remove. This makes 2021 an historic year. And although the road to implementation and market success for these products will be difficult, it provides clear new sustainable solutions for the feed and food chains that will be recognised soon.
For our industry looking ahead means looking way further than just 2022. The whole world is under the spell of the needed transition to a low carbon economy and the rethinking of our food chain from planet to plate. These megatrends will impact our industry and make our markets more dynamic than ever. But it means we have great opportunities ahead.
But for now, we can start to enjoy our well-deserved Christmas break. I would like to thank you all for support for our cause and wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas time and health and prosperity for 2022 ( and the many years to come….)
